I am delighted to be associated with the Tullamore International Summer Organ Series. This series of organ recitals by international organists has now become an established event in the cultural calendar of Tullamore and far beyond. That, in itself, is a wonderful tribute to both the organising committee and the calibre of organists and musicians who have performed there throughout the years.
This years’ schedule will not disappoint either with accomplished organists from Ireland, Poland, France and the United States.
It is particularly notable that many of the pieces have a religious theme, outlining, as it does, the link between organ and liturgy. In that context, the setting of the Church of the Assumption in Tullamore is entirely appropriate as is the magnificent Frobenius organ, a gift of the Cathedral Church of Our Lady in Copenhagen, for such a renowned and international organ recital series.
I welcome you to the Church of the Assumption and to the International Summer Organ Series confident that you will find it a memorable and enjoyable experience and I join with you in thanking those who work throughout the year to bring us such enjoyment.
